Hospital Outsourcing is Gaining Popularity

Managed Healthcare Executive

Hospital outsourcing, for both clinical and nonclinical services, has been growing in popularity in recent years, a trend anticipated to follow a 14.4% compound annual growth rate, according to Research and Markets and reported by a recent article from Managed Healthcare Executive. This outsourcing has been met with varying opinions, with some lauding the opportunity to bring outside expertise and quality of service to areas like housekeeping, transcription, IT management, and other nonclinical departments, and others voicing concerns over potential gaps in the quality of care provided by an outsourced workforce not directly under hospital management.

With the trend likely to continue, hospital leaders will need to keep a close eye on financial data, consumer/staff feedback, and other KPIs to make informed decisions about the effectiveness of each outsourced role.
